Iceberg Lake
Date: October 21st 2026
Distance: 15km, 900m elevation gain
There are a couple trailhead options for Iceberg Lake. The most direct route is starting from
50.15490213909409, -122.96783040620831.
I am unsure why the first click on AllTrails takes you to a different trailhead that is 3km longer.
There is limited street parking, but you can look for a spot further down the hill.
From here the trail climbs steeply through the forest following 19 mile creek. Once out of the forest, views of the alpine across the valley open up. Blackcomb, Wedgemount, etc. From the meadow up to the lake it is very muddy. Trekking poles helped to not take a slide in the mud.
We did not see anyone else on trail the entire day. On a sunny Saturday I'm sure this trail is very busy. The lake itself is not very big and it would feel crowded quickly.
This summer there was a report to COS of a cougar stalking a hiker 2km up the Iceberg Lake trail. It’s always a good idea to carry bear spray with you for all wildlife.
On the way down we stopped at the bench overlook about a km from the trailhead. This viewpoint has amazing views of Green Lake and the town of Whistler. The fall colours contrasting with the green hues of Green Lake made for some of my favorite photos from the day.
